White glove moving in Oakville

Yugo moves homes and businesses across Oakville, about 40 km from our Toronto base: heritage houses near the lake, larger homes on established streets, and condos in the town's growing centres.

Long drives, mature trees and large pieces are planned for before the day: where the truck will stand, how each piece reaches the door, and how floors are protected.

Before the day

Moving in Oakville: what we plan for

Heritage homes

Oakville has four heritage conservation districts. Old Oakville alone has 162 homes, most built in the 19th century, and Trafalgar Road has nearly 190 properties. Older houses tend to have narrow doors and steep stairs, so we measure and protect before anything is lifted.

Large lots and lakeside homes

Many of Oakville's older neighbourhoods are detached homes on generous lots with mature trees. We check driveway length, turning room and the walk to the door before the day, so large pieces are never improvised.

Parking and timing

Street parking is limited to three hours. From 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. it is banned all year north of Dundas Street, and from November 15 to April 15 south of it. The Town's courtesy permits exclude commercial vehicles, so we use the driveway where we can and plan the day inside the limit.
